Skill Levels

At Girls Day Out we are all about promoting the sport of wakeboarding and ensuring everyone has a great time! As such, we try to put girls together in the boats according to both age and ability level. Each year we have girls approach us, unsure of which skill division they should ride in – both in the wakeboarding clinics and the tournament. The following breaks down each division to give you a better idea of which division you should be riding in. Not only does this make the Girls Day Out wakeboarding tournament fair, it ensures that each girl is comfortable and hanging out with girls of similar ability level.

Beginner

Most beginner riders have been wakeboarding for one to two years, but this division is also for those who wakeboard but only get a chance once or twice a summer.

This division is for the female rider who has wakeboarded a few times but is still getting comfortable, gaining confidence and hasn’t had much competition experience.

Tricks:
  • one wake jumps (heel-side/toe-side)
  • surface tricks (surface 180s, slides)
  • one wake 180s
  • one wake grabs

Intermediate

Most girls riding in this division have been wakeboarding for a few seasons and are looking to progress their riding to the next level. Riders who enter this division are clearing both wakes and attempting wake-to-wake 180s and grabs.

Tricks:
  • two wake jumps (heel-side/toe-side)
  • wake-to-wake 180s
  • stylish wake-to-wake grabs

Advanced

In the advanced division the sky is the limit! Girls who enter the advanced wakeboarding level division are consistently landing wake to wake jumps and 180s, and attempting 360s or inverts.

Remember, Girls Day Out wakeboarding weekends are about trying your best and progressing your skills, so don’t worry about falling, in the Girls Day Out wakeboarding competition you get points even for falling!
