Girls Day Out 2007: Wakeboarding Wrap-up!
The third annual Girls Day Out wakeboarding event was a great success – thank you to all
the girls who came out!
Girls Day Out 2007 was definitely the best event we have held yet.
Our three-day weekend event at Windsor Park in Bala, Muskoka welcomed a
lmost 70 participants, including 30 girls who dared to rip in the girls-only competition.
This year, Girls Day Out attracted girls of all ages and skill levels. Our boats were filled
with riders between the ages of 9 and 35 and skill levels that ranged from those just learning
to ride to those hitting the slider and attempting back rolls. All the riders set aside their
fear and really shredded up the massive MasterCraft wakes and all the riders were stoked on the
tricks and skills they learned during the clinics.
A big thank you goes out to the Girls Day Out Instructors - Kayle McMillen,
Sunni-Ann Ball, Lauren Scavuzzo and Julia Staffen, and to all the girls that
came out to ride! You are all awesome and we can’t wait to see you at Girls Day
Out in 2008. Thanks also to the parents, friends and families who came out and
supported the riders.
Lastly, many thanks to our sponsors: Catherine Derochers from Billabong, Jeff Funk from O’Brien
and JetPilot, Sun ‘n Ski Marine and Mastercraft Boats, SBC Wakeboard Magazine, TAB Energy Drink and
Playtex, as well as all the board shops that supported GDO, our families, our coaches, boat drivers,
and to everyone else who supports Girls Day Out and action sports for girls by girls.
